Cost-Per-View or CPV

Cost-Per-View or CPV is a type of website traffic known as contextual advertising.  You might also hear CPV called Pay-Per-View or PPV.  In short it is adware traffic.

Don’t let the word “adware” scare you.  Adware is not malicious like spyware or a virus.  It is simply a program that is placed onto your computer (with your permission only) through a program that you downloaded (usually for free) to your computer.  The software is usually a game or a tool like free virus protection.

As I said earlier, don’t let this scare you.  Adware lets you know when you install it that you agree to their advertisements in exchange for the software.  Then advertisers (just like the people that advertise in Google) place their ads in front of you when you go to particular websites or search on search engines.

At the current time, this traffic is way more inexpensive than Google Adwords at the moment and is a part of the 80% of website traffic out there that Google doesn’t control.  So you see there is a wealth of untapped traffic still out there for the taking.  You just have to investigate and go out there and get it!
