The World of Internet Marketing

Local Business Marketing – The New Frontier?

If you haven’t heard already, local business marketing for Internet Marketers is amongst the biggest things to hit the Internet.  You might say that it is the new frontier…

Why is this being hailed as the next big wave that will create a new number of millionaires from the web?  Probably because there are an estimated 4.2 million small businesses that need help with their online marketing.

Small business owners are in business in their respective fields to service their clients and not to learn how to market online.  The problem is that the world is changing and faster than most anticipated.  The Internet has taken over as the medium of choice for most people in general as a way of obtaining information.  This has caused newspapers, telephone books, etc. to see a rapid decline in readership and advertising revenue because people just prefer the instantaneous and often free access to information via the World Wide Web.

Now that we have seen this rapid shift in the way that people assimilate information, we online marketers have been given a great opportunity as well as responsibility.  If we each helped small businesses thrive in this down economy we would see things turn around in a hurry and without the help of government.  It’s small not large businesses that create a country’s growth and prosperity.  Just think what we as marketers could accomplish if we could help each one of those 4.2 million small businesses hire just one more person.  That would be 4.2 million new jobs in the US alone!  Now we’re talking…

What do you think about this subject?  As always your comments are very welcome.  So be sure to leave one.

Mobile Marketing – Is it the next big thing?

In recent weeks you might have heard more and more about mobile marketing and how it is the next big thing.  Well is it, is it really?

Mobile marketing has been around for quite some time but what is happening now is that it is in an evolutionary stage.  It used to be that you could only market to the masses if you were a large company with the big bucks but now even the average everyday person can market to the whole world!

Let me tell you, big market is an understatement when you talk about mobile phones.  There are approximately 6.8 billion people on the planet and over 5 billion of them have mobile phones.  As crazy as that number is, it doesn’t even include all of the new devices like iPads and Kindles.

What is even bigger is that about 1.8 billion people are on the Internet today and if you think about it, how many of those people take their computers everywhere they go?  Not many right…  Well with mobile phones, nearly all of those 5 billion people are taking their phones with them everywhere they go.  It’s like we can’t do without them!  When you leave the house you grab your wallet, house/car keys and your mobile phone.  They are now the three necessities.

Haven’t you always thought about what it would be like to get a piece of that colossal mobile phone pie?  Now you can, but the key is having direction and taking action!  So tell me how you take action on mobile marketing and your experience just might assist others on their path to success.

In the coming weeks, I will be posting more on this subject so be sure to return for actual action steps…

The Role of Social Media in Marketing by M.C. Hammer?

That’s right!  You heard me.  M.C. Hammer spoke at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in early 2010.  He spoke about the role of Social Media in today’s marketing.

I found this talk to be both interesting and informative.  I have to admit that I didn’t think that he would give a talk at the level of someone that really knows what they are talking about but I was wrong.

For a long time people wondered what happened to him and that he probably just faded away broke and miserable but that simply isn’t the case.  He goes into detail about how to use Social Media to propel someone or a company into a position of leverage.

You see, social media has the ability to take an unknown person or company and make them a celebrity overnight if you do it right.  M.C. Hammer goes into detail about how and why he uses Social Media to effectively test and execute campaigns for little or no money that have the potential to grow into something huge!

The video below is a bit longer than most YouTube videos, a little over twenty minutes to be exact, but if you are marketing online it is well worth the time spent to watch.  You won’t believe that this is the same M.C. Hammer that used to say, “You Can’t Touch This!”

So watch the video now and enjoy Hammer’s take on the role of Social Media in today’s marketing and be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Are You A Human Lottery Ticket?

I know that the title of this post is quite strange but keep reading and you’ll see what I’m getting at.

Are you a human lottery ticket, let’s find out.  By most people’s definition a lottery ticket is a chance to win a whole lot of money for the very low risk of only a dollar.  One big problem with the lottery is that so many people are playing in order to get that pot up into the millions that it is very hard to win because of your odds.

Lets remember that if the jackpot is $100,000,000 that it took millions of people each contributing at least a dollar apiece in order to get it that high.  Now what do you think your chances are of being the one person or persons to pick the winning numbers?  Pretty low huh?

But now let us examine a different kind of lottery, the one within you.  It amazes me how many more people believe in plopping down a dollar after dollar on a game of chance vs. believing in themselves or someone else.

In the case of Internet Marketing, just tell someone how you want to make a living (if you are just starting out) and they will think that you are dreaming or even tell you to get a real job.

The average person doesn’t realize that as an Internet Marketer you can write your own ticket for success!  You don’t have to rely on a game of chance in order to become wealthy.

All you have to do is learn how to drive tons of targeted traffic to an offer (your own product or as an affiliate of someone else’s) and you are set for life…  Learn how to build an email mailing list and it’s like getting a license to print money!

So the moral of this story is if you are an aspiring Internet Marketer you are a human lottery ticket whether other people around you know it or not.  Learn your craft, never give up and your odds of hitting the jackpot are really high.

Do your friends and family believe in your chances of success?  Leave a comment and share your story.
